TOPIC- ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION TOGETHER



At the end of today's lesson, you will be able to do addition and subtraction together.

In the previous classes you learnt :
  • subtraction without Re-grouping.
  • subtraction with Re-grouping(carrying over).
  • to workout with word problems.
Ex:4.3

Q1. Simplify addition and subtraction together:

(a) 652819 + 1236 - 50031

(No need to copy the text in brackets, as it only for explanation.)

(RULE- We will take one operation at a time.

STEP 1- When we are given both the operations to solve in one question, we will perform one operation at a time.)

652819 + 1236 - 50031

ADD        652819 + 1236

           6  5  2  8  1  9
       +          1  2  3  6
           6  5  4  0  5  5
(STEP 2- We will replace the 2 numbers with their sum
                           654055 - 50031

STEP 2- The answer we get after adding becomes our SUBTRAHEND.
 Now, we will perform the next operation.)

 Subtract       654055 - 50031

          6  5  4  0  5  5
      -       5  0  0  3  1
          6  0  4  0  2  4

Final answer =  6 0 4 0 2 4
