Subtraction (Ex-4.4, Q1)
GOOD MORNING STUDENTS! 😊😊
Welcome back to Maths class.
Today, by the end of the lesson you will be able to:
➤ find the missing digits in the sums involving addition & subtraction.
Before we start next question, let us watch the following video to learn- how to find the missing digits in addition or click on the link

Q1: Find the missing digits:
(the digits in yellow are missing numbers)
1
(a) 3 9 1 6 5 → HINT: START ADDING FROM ONES PLACE
+ 2 6 1 4 5+4 = 9, AT ONES PLACE
4 1 7 7 9 6 + 1 =7, AT TENS PLACE .
1 + 6 = 7, AT HUNDREDS PLACE
9 + 2 =11,SO 1 IS CARRIED TO THOUSANDS PLACE
1 + 3 =4 AT T-TH PLACE.
Solve (b) on your own.
We know that
SUBTRAHEND + DIFFERENCE = MINUEND (for checking the answer)
So, here we will apply the same rule ( of addition) to find the missing digits in the sums involving subtraction.
(the digits in yellow are missing numbers)
(c) 5 6 8 1 8 Let's add subtrahend (smaller number) and Difference.
9 + 2 = 11, So 1 is carried to HUNDREDS PLACE
1 + 1 + 6 = 8 AT HUNDREDS PLACE
5 + 1 = 6 AT THOUSANDS PLACE
3 + 2 = 5 AT T-TH PLACE

(c) 5 6 8 1 8 Let's add subtrahend (smaller number) and Difference.
- 2 1 6 2 0 Start adding from ones place
3 5 1 9 8 8 + 0 = 8 AT ONES PLACE9 + 2 = 11, So 1 is carried to HUNDREDS PLACE
1 + 1 + 6 = 8 AT HUNDREDS PLACE
5 + 1 = 6 AT THOUSANDS PLACE
3 + 2 = 5 AT T-TH PLACE
