CLASS 5 MULTIPLICATION AND DIVISION PART-4
GOOD MORNING STUDENTS! 😊😊
Welcome back to Maths class.
In the previous class, we learnt about the properties of multiplication and how to solve numericals based on this concept.
Today we'll learn about the concept of 'Division' and 'Properties of division'
By the end of the lesson, you will be able to
By the end of the lesson, you will be able to
- recall the concept of division
- apply the properties of division to solve numericals
- perform division of large numbers with 2-digit numbers
Division: It is a method of distributing a group of things into equal parts.

Now let's take an example of division:

PROPERTIES OF DIVISION
That's all for today. We'll start the next exercise tomorrow.
Now let's take an example of division:
Let us recall these terms:
1. Dividend: The number which is to be divided
2. Divisor: The number by which we divide
3. Quotient: The answer we get on dividing
4. Remainder: The number left after performing the division
Now we shall learn about the 'Properties of division'
PROPERTIES OF DIVISION
1. A number ➗ same number= 1
eg. 16 ➗ 16 =1
2. A number ➗ 1= the number itself
eg. 25 ➗ 1= 25
3. 0➗ a no-zero number= 0
eg. 0 ➗ 18= 0
4. Division by zero is not possible
eg. 256 ➗ 0= not possible
5. The order of numbers cannot be changed in division
eg. 16 ➗ 2 ≠ 2➗ 16
6, Quotient x Divisor + Remainder= Dividend
Let us have a look at this video which explains a few of the above properties of division
Now take out your Maths notebooks, write today's date and note down the following work:
