CLASS 4 Subtraction (Ex-4.1-Q3)

Today, by the end of the lesson you will be able to:
 ➤ check the answer of subtraction

➧Copy the EXPLANATION with examples in your MATHS NOTEBOOK

We learnt in the previous blogs, that   
MINUEND  -  SUBTRAHEND = DIFFERENCE
To  check the  answer  of  Subtraction  we  need to  add  the  Subtrahend  and  the  Difference.
Difference of two numbers is correct when the sum of the subtrahend and the difference is equal to the minuend
Check for Subtraction and Addition Answer

Thus,
SUBTRAHEND  +  DIFFERENCE  = MINUEND

Likewise, MINUEND  -  DIFFERENCE =  SUBTRAHEND  

Let me explain with the help of an example:

  1)  Arrange, find the difference and Check the answer:
a)   44013-  39010
                                 4 4 0 1 3----MINUEND
                            -    3 9 0 1 0----SUBTRAHEND
                                    5 0 0 3----DIFFERENCE

            CHECK
                                 3 9 0 1 0----SUBTRAHEND
                             +     5 0 0 3----DIFFERENCE

                                 4 4 0 1 3----MINUEND

Let's start Ex-4.1 (page no.45)


Q3: Arrange, find the difference and check the answer:
a) 56251 - 2040

               56251 → Minuend
             -   2040 → subtrahend               
               54211 → Difference
  
CHECK    2040 → subtrahend
            + 54211 → difference
               56251 → Minuend

d) 386939 - 12807

              386939
            -   12807
              374132

CHECK           12807
                    +374132

                      386939
             

HOMEWORK
Do Q3 (b), (c), (e) and (f) of Ex-4.1 (in your Maths Notebook)
